A BUILDING FOR THE COMMUNITY
You do not need to be a churchgoer to appreciate the importance of St Matthew’s Church as a building. The Grade II* listed building was designed by Alfred Waterhouse, the same architect who designed the Natural History Museum, and lies at the heart of Blackmoor Village.
In addition to formal worship, St Matthew’s plays an important part of life in Blackmoor and Whitehill, through such events as weddings, baptisms, and funerals, as well as special school services. The Friends of St Matthew’s is being formed in 2015 to support the cost of repairs and maintenance to the church and churchyard.
We welcome members, supporters and donors who want to help maintain and protect St Matthew’s church for future generations.
